Thank you for considering one of our puppies! We are a small, in-home breeder specializing in AKC Long-Haired Miniature Dachshunds. Our focus is on raising healthy, well-socialized puppies with wonderful temperaments that will become cherished family companions.

From the day they're born, our puppies are handled daily, introduced to everyday household sights and sounds, and raised with plenty of love and attention.

Our Program

We believe the first eight weeks lay the foundation for a lifetime.

During their time with us, every puppy receives:

  • Daily handling and socialization
  • Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS)
  • Early Scent Introduction (ESI)
  • Routine deworming
  • Age-appropriate vaccinations
  • A complete veterinary wellness exam
  • Plenty of love, playtime, and cuddles

Go-Home Timeline

Our puppies are ready for their new homes at approximately 8 weeks of age.

To provide the smoothest transition for both puppies and families, we schedule pickups over the same weekend whenever possible. We encourage families to plan ahead, as we are generally unable to extend go-home dates beyond the scheduled pickup timeframe.

Reservation Process

Puppies are reserved in the order deposits are received. Once your deposit is placed, your puppy is marked as reserved and preparation begins for their homecoming.

Bringing Your Puppy Home

Your puppy will go home with:

  • AKC Registration paperwork
  • Veterinary health record
  • Vaccination & deworming record
  • Sample of current food
  • Blanket with mom and littermates' scent
  • Favorite toy
  • Puppy care information
  • Lifetime breeder support

Pickup & Transportation

Families are welcome to pick up their puppy in person. We also offer meet-up locations within a reasonable distance, and flight nanny or ground transportation may be available for families who live farther away.

After Your Puppy Goes Home

Our relationship doesn't end at pickup. We love receiving updates and are always happy to answer questions throughout your puppy's life. We consider every Huckleberry Tails puppy part of our extended family.
